Actor Nagarjuna seems to be doing just fine in his first week as quizmaster on Kaun Banega Crorepati’s Telugu edition. Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu, which went on air on June 9, has the charming actor in his humble best, living it up with the participants.
From breaking into a jig to becoming emotional, to a spontaneous cheer upon a correct answer, the first four episodes of the show have Nag in all his moods.
Those making it to the coveted hot seat are just as interesting as the show’s charismatic host. Thursday’s episode was particularly exciting, with participant Krishna Prasad winning Rs.12.50 lakh, the highest prize in the show so far.
The same episode saw an energetic 68-year-old, Subbalakshmi, making her way to the hot seat. The retired government employee surprised the host and the audience when she said that she was pursuing her M.A. Literature. For the remainder of the show, the actor was more than happy rooting for the dynamic lady.
Youth-oriented, and political
After Aa Nalaguru exactly a decade ago, Telugu film producer Premkumar has come up with Aa Aiduguru. Of course, there were other films in between, the most notable being Sai Kiran Adivi’s Vinayukudu.
Aa Aiduguru is slated for a release on June 20 or 27, he says, adding that in tune with his other movies, it would not have any double entendre or ‘item’ numbers, but would be a clean family entertainer for all audiences. It has five heroes, most of them either newcomers or those who have done a few films.
As for the choice of a debutant director, he said he was impressed with Anil Guduru, who had earlier assisted in the making of Vinayukudu.
“The concept, being set against a political backdrop with a youth-oriented message was good, but I did polish it because even as a producer I involve myself totally in the making of my films,” he said.
Director Anil is excited about a film that got a U/A censor certification.
“It is a youthful entertainer with an experimental edge that conveys my message. It is certainly not a political satire aimed at any political party. I have suggested a kind of good governance with an idealistic approach for a better society,” he adds.
