Always took pride in being an ardent follower of yoga? Now is the time to test your flexibility and endurance levels in the most ancient yoga exercise, Surya Namaskar or sun salute. The Art of Living is organising the ‘Yogathon Challenge’ on December 14 in the city.

The challenge, which is open for anyone aged between 8 and 80 years, requires one to complete 54 sets or 108 rounds of Surya Namaskar within a stipulated time. A press meet was held in the city on Sunday by the Art of Living members to announce the event.

This Art of Living initiative is a part of the ‘Yogathon’ being conducted to raise awareness regarding the benefits of Yoga. The event will be held in BHEL stadium and 100 other venues across Hyderabad which is expected to be participated by thousands.

Over 1,250 venues across India will host similar events between December 14 and 27.

“A few rounds of the Surya Namaskar done at a fast pace can give you a good cardiovascular workout, and when done slowly, they can be very meditative and relaxing,” said Dinesh Kashikar, senior faculty of the Art of Living from Bengaluru.
