The body of an unidentified woman, stuffed in a five-foot-long box was found on the Outer Ring Road at Kongar Kalan village in Ibrahimpatnam on Thursday.

On seeing legs protruding from the box, passersby alerted police, who opened it only to find the body of a woman in her mid 20s. She was clad in a T-shirt and trousers. Based on a letter found in the pocket of the trousers, investigators identified her as Rashmi of Jamalpur in Manger district of Bihar.

The note stated that she wanted to end her life due to harassment by her husband and in-laws for additional dowry. “According to the note, she got married to Rakesh Singh, who works at RGIA, in 2009 and the couple has a two-year-old son,” the Ibrahimpatnam ACP V. Surender Reddy said. Police are awaiting the post-mortem report to confirm if it was a murder or suicide.
