A highly-decomposed body of a woman was found at Siddulagutta near Shamshabad on Sunday. Sources said some persons known to the victim could have lured her to the place and assaulted her sexually after consuming toddy.

The incident came to light when customers at a nearby hotel complained of some foul smell emanating from the vicinity. They then went to Siddulagutta and found the body of woman aged between 28 and 35 in the bushes. The victim was clad in a red sari and light brown colour blouse. Police said empty toddy sachets were also found at the spot.

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Sub-Inspector Jairam said, “Autopsy report would ascertain whether the woman was sexually assaulted or not.” He said a case of suspicious death under Section 174 of CrPc was registered and the body was preserved at the Osmania General Hospital mortuary for identification and autopsy.
