Woman kills daughter over property dispute

A woman in her early 50s stabbed to death her daughter Kalyani, 30, following a dispute over a house at L.N. Nagar in Yousufguda of Banjara Hills, on Friday.

The victim was the eldest of the three daughters of Sai Laxmi. They own a building spread over 100 square yards at L.N. Nagar. For the past four years, Kalyani and other members of the family were fighting over sharing the house.

“Kalyani and other members of the family vacated the house and lived separately after renting out portions of the house. Four months ago, Kalyani occupied one of the portions,” Banjara Hills Inspector Murali Krishna said. Clad in a burqa, Laxmi came to the house around 9 a.m. as Kalyani was about to start her two-wheeler and stabbed her indiscriminately. Her other two daughters watched from a distance as their sister was being killed, the police said.

Woman ends life over slur

G. Bhavani of Turka Yamjal in Vanasthalipuram, who consumed poison two days ago allegedly after a family living next door accused her of having an affair with her neighbour, died in Osmania General Hospital on Friday. Bhavani was a second-year engineering student of Indu Sri College and used to consult an youngster living in the adjacent house for doubts in her studies.

Two days ago, the youngster’s wife and parents allegedly chided Bhavani, accusing her of having an affair with him. Hours after they left, the student consumed poison. A case of abetment to suicide was registered against the youngster’s family.

Case booked

The L.B. Nagar police of Cyberabad registered a criminal case after anonymous persons posted a morphed image of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao describing him as Hitler on the Facebook page of the TDP. Persons responsible for posting the content were not yet known, said the police.

Fake scribe held

Cyberabad police on Friday arrested R. Surya Prakash Chary who allegedly claimed to be a journalist association’s president and collected money from people threatening to write negative reports against them. Three of his associates, accused of abetting him, were also held.
