Woman ‘killed’ by in-laws

A 23-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her in-laws by setting her afire at their house at Suraram Colony in Dundigal on Friday.

The victim has been identified as S. Vanitha, wife of Ganesh, the police said.

Accused of illicit affair

According to police, Vanitha’s mother-in-law Eswaramma and her other daughter-in-law Kavita picked up an argument with Vanitha, accusing her of having an illicit affair.

In the melee, they smashed Vanitha’s head with a lock.

The duo later burnt her body with kerosene, the police said.

Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s relatives, the police registered a case against Eswaramma and Kavita and took them into custody.

Baby dies of burns

In a separate incident, a three-year-old girl, who sustained serious burns after a steel utensil containing hot water fell on her at her house at Karmikanagar in Jubilee Hills on Thursday, died while undergoing treatment at the Osmania General Hospital on Friday.

The incident occurred when the girl was playing near the stove, according to police .
