A 50-year-old woman, Ananthamma, was beaten to death by her husband, Gurumurthy, who was drunk, at NBT Nagar of Banjara Hills, the police said on Thursday.

On Wednesday night, Gurumurthy picked up an argument with his wife accusing her of spending more money on painting the house.

“He was heavily drunk and beat the woman with a stick resulting in serious head injuries,” the police said. The accused was taken into custody and is being interrogated.

Toddy shop owner held

The Commissioner’s Task Force (Central) team on Thursday caught a toddy shop owner K. Narsing Das Goud and seized a country-made revolver from him.

Goud was earlier arrested on a charge of possessing four muzzle loading guns and in connection with a murder case and several chain-snatching cases.

Recently, he acquired the country-made firearm through his accomplice from Bihar since he feared that his opponents would eliminate him, the police said.

He even tested the country-made revolver using three rounds at Tukkuguda.
