Woman arrested for ‘assaulting’ traffic police SI

A woman was arrested by the police on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting the Punjagutta Traffic Sub-Inspector and Home Guard at Punjagutta after a tiff over imposition of Rs. 200 fine for parking rule violation.

Twenty-seven-year-old Divya Dutt Dubey, a sales executive, picked up an argument with the SI, G. Rajgopal Reddy, after her car driver was slapped with Rs. 200 fine for parking the vehicle at no parking zone opposite Green Park hotel.

“The woman snatched my challan book and tore off some pages. Then I asked the Home Guard Srinivas Reddy, to take photographs,” the SI said.

Shoot pictures

The woman allegedly then rushed towards the HG and held him by his collar. By this time, the SI began shooting pictures of the assault. On seeing this, the woman got more angered and attacked him injuring him with her fingernails.

A case under sections 353 (assaulting public servant to deter from discharging duties) and 332 (hurting public servant) of Indian Penal Code was registered against her. She was arrested and produced before a local magistrate.
