Cop files counter-charge, claims he was the one attacked
A traffic Sub Inspector of police allegedly assaulted a woman at Puranapul on Friday evening following an argument over paying penalty.
According to the police, the woman Rasheeda Begum (42), along with her son Kamaluddin (23), was passing by Puranapul road when the traffic police stopped their two-wheeler and insisted on showing vehicle documents.
This resulted in an argument between the SI Anjaneyulu and the duo.
Apparently, in a fit of rage, the SI assaulted the woman resulting in bleeding injury to her nose. Later, the woman and her son approached the Hussainialam police station and lodged a complaint.
Meanwhile, the SI also lodged a complaint against the two accusing them of preventing him from performing his duty and assaulting him.
“We received two complaints from the SI and the woman. We are verifying the same and will register cases,” said Hussainialam police Inspector J. Venkat Reddy.
Charminar MLA Ahmed Pasha Quadri visited the police station and spoke to the senior police officials. He later, he sought action against the guilty police official and criticised the traffic police for their high-handed behaviour.
