Wipro Consumer Care Products Division would set up a manufacturing unit in Telangana with an investment of ₹220 crore.

The facility, to be established on 40 acres in Maheshwaram mandal of Ranga Reddy district, would make toilet soaps and other personal care products.

The project would create 300 direct and about 200 indirect jobs. The company’s decision was announced in a release by the office of the Industries and IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao after his meeting with Rishad Premji, director of Wipro Enterprises, on the sidelines of World Congress on IT here on Wednesday.

“Wipro has a good presence in the State and its new manufacturing unit will boost the progress of the industrial sector in Telangana,” Mr. Rao said, while thanking the Wipro management for preferring Telangana over other competing States for the facility.

There are many other business opportunities that Wipro can further explore in the State, he added.

The latest investment decision by the Wipro is a testimony to the fact that the Telangana State is a favourite destination for many investors.
