The Telugu Desam Party Telangana State unit has demanded that the State government release a white paper on revenue and expenditure related aspects in the State since its formation.
TDP-TS working president A. Revanth Reddy expressed concern that the government had opted for borrowing huge sum as loans since the formation of the State. While the Chief Ministers of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh mobilised ₹60,000 crore over 60 years, the current dispensation had allegedly obtained loans to the tune of ₹1.2 lakh crore in the past two-and-a-half years.
Budgetary allocations
This was in addition to the claims that the government had spent ₹3.5 lakh crore in the form of budgetary allocations since the formation of the State. In spite of mobilising huge loans, the government could not fulfil its promises like fee reimbursement to students, farm loan waiver and double bedroom houses to needy families. The government was yet to keep its promise of allotting three acre land to each of Dalit and tribals families in the State.
Mr. Revanth Reddy advised the government against incurring wasteful expenditure in the name of projects like Mission Bhagiratha as the burden would be passed on to the common man in the due course. He said the TDP-TS had taken up ‘Praja Poru’, a mass contact programme, to educate people on the failures of the current dispensation in keeping its promises. The next phase of the programme would be conducted in Nirmal on February 20.
