They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, and going by it, a few hundred women are trying to brush up their cooking skills at the cookery classes conducted by Siasat daily at Sana Garden Function Hall, Charminar.

The programme is organised every year in collaboration with various hotels in the city. This year, the newspaper has tied up with Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Banjara Hills, and chefs are imparting cookery training to the participants.

Nearly 1,500 women are attending the four-day programme, which began on Saturday. Participants are trained in preparing Chinese, Arabian, Mexican, Thai and Indian cuisines, organisers said.

“The programme will help to empower women, besides making a happy family. They can not only save money but also get exposure to food of other countries,” said Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, managing editor, Siasat.

Women of all age groups are participating in the programme. “It is a good opportunity. In a short period of time we can learn a lot,” said a participant.

The programme will conclude on Tuesday with a cookery contest. Participants are allowed to prepare a dish at their house and bring it. The best cuisines will be given prizes, organisers added.
