When ATM rained money

September 21, 2014 04:01 am | Updated November 16, 2021 07:57 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

It rained money, literally for a while at an ATM centre in S. R. Nagar on Friday night when three friends went to withdraw Rs. 200.

It so happened that Shaik Lateef, Prasad and Hari went to the State Bank of Hyderabad ATM centre at S. R. Nagar to withdraw the money. Lateef inserted the ATM card in the machine and pressed the button for cash withdrawal when suddenly the door opened and currency worth Rs. 1.5 lakh rolled on the ground. Shocked on finding the huge sum of money landing at their feet, the friends immediately alerted the police control room by dialling 100. A team from S. R. Nagar police station rushed to the spot and collected the cash.

“On inspection we found another Rs. 24 lakh in the machine,” N. Shankar, Detective Inspector, S. R. Nagar said. Ironically, there was no security guard at the ATM centre.
