Seeking pension: Ramishetty Yashwanth and his grandmother Laxmi waiting to meet Collector D.S. Lokesh Kumar in Khammam on Wednesday.

After making unsuccessful attempts to secure pension meant for differently-abled, 14-year-old Ramishetty Yashwanth of Sriramnagar, who is suffering from complete immobility due to cerebral palsy, turned up here on Wednesday in a desperate need for support.

Yashwanth, who was brought to the Collectorate by his grandmother Laxmi, waited for his turn to represent his grievance at Parishkruti reception counter.

Laxmi has been taking care of Yashwanth and his 11-year-old sister Uma ever since the death of their parents a few years ago.

She deplored that her grandson was deprived of pension despite their repeated attempts to secure financial support.

“We have made repeated rounds of the municipal office in pursuit of pension, but in vain,” she rued, lamenting that her grandson cannot move without others’ support due to total physical impairment in four limbs.

My grandson is longing for rehabilitation and my granddaughter is in urgent need of free residential education, she said.

Meanwhile, Laxmi met Collector D.S. Lokesh Kumar at the Collectorate and explained the miserable condition of Yashwanth.

Moved by their plight, the Collector reportedly assured her to ensure all possible help, including free institutional care services to the boy and join his sister in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya.
