Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao on Saturday said the government was taking steps to check instance of the C-section and action would be taken against those resorting to it when there was no need for it.
Mr. Harish Rao, who formally launched the programme of KCR Kits’ distribution at the government hospital here, handed over the kits for some lactating mothers.
“The government has decided to spend ₹400 crore on this scheme that will benefit the new-born and pregnant women. It was reported that some doctors were opting for C-section in private hospitals though it was not necessary. We have decided not only to reduce C-section but also take action against those performing it when not needed,” said Mr. Harish Rao.
The Minister said efforts were being made to improve the performance of government hospitals and a 300-bed hospital at the district headquarters would be ready in the next three months. He promised to start a dialysis centre within one month. As a medical college was sanctioned for Siddipet, a 500-bed hospital would also be available here, he added.
Mr Harish Rao celebrated his birthday at the Chittapur tank bund in the presence of party workers.

Adilabad Collector Buddha Prakash M. Jyoti, District Medical and Health Officer Rajiv Raju and RIMS Director K. Ashok were present. Asifabad MLA Kova Laxmi distributed the gift hampers at Asifabad hospital in Kumram Bheem Mancherial districts.
At Nirmal Housing Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy launched the programme at the government hospital. Nirmal Collector Ilambarithi was also present.
At Mancherial, Government Chief Whip Nallala Odelu, MLA N. Diwakar Rao, MLC Puranam Satish launched the distribution of KCR kits. Collector R. V. Karnan also participated.
‘Makes people confident’

The KCR Kits scheme would instil confidence among people and attract more women to institutional delivery in government hospitals, said Collector D Krishna Bhaskar.
Speaking after launching the programme at the Government hospital in Sircilla textile town on Saturday, he said the secheme would come as a boon to poor mothers and their new-born babies.
The Collector presented the kits to 36 mothers at the hospital. The kit comprises mosquito net, baby mask, baby dress, oil, shampoo, talcum powder, soap, towels, napkins, toys, kit bag, buckets and two sarees for mother.
The government would also provide financial assistance at the rate of ₹12,000 to the mother who delivered male baby and ₹13,000 for the mother who delivered a female baby in the government hospital.
