In tune with the changing times, the Water Board plans to have a Facebook account of its own. Consumers can freely air their views on it and post comments on what they feel about the Board's functioning. This facility will be launched in a couple of days.
New feature
This new feature, on which the Board has been working for quite sometime, was announced by its new Managing Director Adhar Sinha on Monday.
Interacting with presspersons after hoisting the tricolour, Mr. Sinha said Facebook would be an additional facility for the consumers to interact with the Board officials. He had reviewed the Board's activities at a macro level and would repeat the exercise at micro level.
Scope for improvement
Listing out his priorities, he said efforts would be made to improve the system and make it more efficient and transparent. There was scope for improvement in all spheres of activities. Consumer grievances would be attended and problems solved at the local level. Action would be taken at the erring officials, Mr. Sinha warned and hoped he would not get such an opportunity.
Mr. Sinha remained noncommittal about tariff revision. “It is a policy matter. I have to study the system first,” he remarked and added that improving the Board's efficiency would be his top priority.
Assurance
He promised to look into the question of non receipt of property tax share from GHMC in spite of the government issuing a GO. He had earlier worked with the corporation and had a fair knowledge of the issues, Mr. Sinha said.
To a question, he said he would sit down with officials and try to sort out the power bill arrears of the Water Board.
Mr. Sinha said the Environment Secretary was visiting Hyderabad on August 19 and on this occasion various ongoing projects like Krishna Phase III, NRCD-II and Godavari would be discussed.
