War of words between TDP and YSRC

March 17, 2014 10:18 pm | Updated May 31, 2016 12:33 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSR Congress (YSRC) were engaged in an intense war of words on Monday with the two sides raising questions over the honesty of rival party chiefs and the allegations of corruption against them.

It started with a statement of TDP senior leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu where he had said that YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy had no moral right to claim he is the representative of the youth. The representative of the youth should be someone with a clean image, clear mind and responsibility towards the society but Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy does not possess any of those qualities. He has indulged in large-scale corruption by violating laws and amassed wealth, the TDP leader said.

Mr. Ramakrishnudu shot 12 questions at the YSR Congress chief, including the party’s opposition to waiver of loans to farmers and women self-help groups, and unemployment allowance to the youth.

In response, official spokesperson of YSRC, Vasireddy Padma, posed 15 questions to TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, asking the latter on his issuance of a whip to his MLAs not to vote against the Congress government in the Assembly and for not opposing the bifurcation of the State.

Both the leaders asked the rival party chiefs to give their explanation and answers to people and not to them.
