Walmart India will soon roll out the next edition of an entrepreneurship development programme for women.
“We will soon launch the third edition of WEDP,” president-CEO Krish Iyer told the graduation ceremony of the second edition of Walmart’s Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme here on Monday. Supported by Walmart,
WEDP 2.0 was announced in September last year. with WEConnect International, Thinkthrough Consulting and Amity University as implementation and training partners respectively
A release on the culmination of the second edition said 61 women-owned businesses (WOBs) graduated from the programme in the presence of government officials, including Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi, academia, start-ups and women entrepreneurs. Towards imparting skills and capabilities to build robust and sustainable businesses, WEDP included capacity building training and mentoring through a combination of classroom training, field visits and subject matter experts. The training modules covered key areas – marketing, finance, business strategy, operations, legal and compliance and social networking, among others.
The WOBs, in different product categories and located in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi NCR, Maharashtra, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.
