National Democratic Alliance and BJP candidate for the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency K. Haribabu is confident of winning the electoral battle by a very good margin over YSR Congress candidate Y.S. Vijayamma.
Mr. Haribabu came along with his wife and daughter to the Ramnagar polling station here on Wednesday at the pre-designated time of 8.30 a.m. to exercise his franchise. He preferred to stand in the queue and refused to go ahead of others in the line despite a few persons giving him the option.
Later, talking to the media, he said that NDA’s campaign was a joint exercise of the BJP, the TDP, and actor Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party.
“ This campaign is a people’s campaign. The party’s effort is only 25 per cent, and the rest has been taken up by the people, as they want a change,” he said.
On his being a non-local, he said, “People are not concerned about where a candidate is born, but are concerned about persons who do not stay here or has no link to this place. In my case, this has been my ‘karma bhoomi’ and I stay here.”
When asked about the BJP signing the bifurcation note, Mr. Haribabu pointed out that people had realised that bifurcation was a reality and were more concerned about which party would take the State ahead.
“And, the BJP has already promised to implement the special packages,” he added.
On whether Visakhapatnam would be made the capital or whether he would pitch for it, Mr. Haribabu said he would go by the expert committee’s recommendation.
