Visa applications to visit Thailand can be made in Hyderabad from Monday.

An outsourcing agency VFS Global which has been appointed by the Royal Thai Consulate General at Chennai will accept the applications for visa from residents of Andhra Pradesh and process them at its office at Greenlands, Ameerpet.

However, they will be assessed by the consulate and sent back to the agency within two days.

The Thai consul general Chanchai Charanvatnakit told a media conference here on Thursday that the visa application centre was being opened in Hyderabad because of the growing passenger traffic to his country from the city. About 50,000 applications were expected every year.

Vishal Jairath, head-south Asia (operations), VFS Global also spoke.
