Venkatadri theatre seized

March 13, 2013 12:39 pm | Updated 12:39 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The GHMC seized Venkatadri theatre at Dilsukhanagar on Tuesday for defaulting on property tax payment to the tune of Rs. 13.55 lakh.

The theatre management was not paying tax for the past two years, and the amount due, including interest, was Rs.16 lakh. But with the government waiving interest, the amount was brought down, said Valuation Officer Rajender. “Despite repeated reminders, the management did not pay, forcing us to seize the hall after the matinee show,” said Valuation Officer Rajender.
