Curtains came down on the three-day Mahasivaratri jatara in Vemulawada here with devotees offering ‘bonalu’ at the Baddi Pochamma temple on Wednesday.

Offering prayers at the Baddi Pochamma temple is believed to complete the pilgrimage to the famed Vemulawada shrine. Apart from bonalu in colourfully decorated pots, some devotees also offered ‘thottelu’ (cradle) amid drum beats.

After three days of festivities, the pilgrims started making their way back home, bidding adieu to Vemulawada.

The next time that the temple town witnesses such a huge congregation will be during the Sri Rama Navami festival when devotees, including men, will ‘marry’ Lord Siva.
