Telangana Cong. leader's charge against govt.

Accusing the TRS Government of robbing the lands of the farmers in the name of redesigning projects, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has said the present regime is giving ‘contracts’ to contractors from Andhra Pradesh.

The TPCC leadership on Thursday conducted a coordination committee meeting to discuss the audio-visual presentation made by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in the State Assembly during the budget session a few months ago.

Mr. Reddy charged that the Chief Minister and Irrigation Minister T.Harish Rao were misleading people on irrigation projects. He said that projects started during the Congress regime were sufficient enough to cultivate a considerable chunk of lands in the State. If only Rs. 10,000 crore was added to the expenditure on pending projects it had the potential to fulfil the needs of 33 lakh acres of lands.

In Mahabubnagar district, if Rs. 878 crore was spent it would be enough to irrigate nearly 7.8 lakh acres of land. Similarly, several projects in Adilabad, Karimnagar and other districts were completed up to 80 or 90 per cent, he said. He alleged that the TRS Government had redesigned projects keeping in view the commissions.

“This is a big fraud and betrayal of the people of Telangana,” he said.
