The Congress party if voted to power will carve out Sammakka Sarakka district with Mulug as headquarters of the new district, said TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.

The Congress government will also set up a bus depot and women’s degree college. The government will also ensure national festival status to the historic Sammakka Sarakka jatara.

Addressing a massive public meeting here on Wednesday, Mr. Reddy showered promises on the people. He reminded how K. Chandrasekhar Rao went back on his promises and how the TRS government failed to deliver promises such as separate Sammakka Sarakka district, tribal university and reopening of BILT factory.

“Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao promises new factories and employment to youth. But despite promises nothing is done to reopen the closed Rayons factory at Kamalapur in the district,” the Congress leader pointed out.

Leave alone giving three acres of land to tribals, this TRS government had snatched away the podu lands from tribals, they were chased away and ill-treated by the Forest Department personnel. The Gotti Koya women in Tadvai forests were treated inhumanly but this government maintained silence over it. “The Congress government will give land rights to all podu farmers,” he promised.

Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy said the much promised reservations to tribals and dalits remained on paper and no effort was made by KCR to deliver the promise.

The Congress party is committed to ensure a minimum of ₹ 2,000 per quintal to ₹ 15,000 per quintal to agricultural produce. It would sanction ₹ 3000 to educated unemployed youth as stipend. It would also revive all the welfare schemes initiated by the Congress governments in the past.

Congress leaders Md. Shabbir Ali, Bhatti Vikramarka, D. Sridhar Babu, Porika Balram Naik, D. Sitakka, Podem Veeraiah and several others took part in the meeting. Mr. Reddy completed 31 Assembly constituencies as part of his ongoing Praja Chaitanya Bus Yatra on Wednesday.
