Uttam challenges KCR to go for Assembly elections

Survey meant to divert people’s attention, says PCC chief

Terming the survey results revealed by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao bogus, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy challenged him to go for elections at least for the seats of MLAs who defected from other parties.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Reddy said KCR would never take that risk because he knew that the survey findings were a figment of his weird imagination. He said the TRS would not win even in 11 seats and the survey was nothing but a tool used to divert people’s attention from his failures.

He said any government survived not on the basis of popularity but on performance and the CM was afraid of his Government’s poor performance and was hence conducting surveys on popularity every two months. “KCR is more focussed on electoral gains in the last three years than reaching out to people.”

The TPCC chief said AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi would, while addressing Telangana Praja Garjana meeting at Sangareddy on June 1, release the charge sheet against the failures of the TRS Government during the last three years. He said he would also expose the failures of the BJP Government at the Centre.

Mr. Reddy alleged that in the name of creating Bangaru Telangana, KCR had turned his family into a ‘bangaru’ family with all his relatives occupying top posts. He said corruption had crossed all barriers in the implementation of irrigation projects, Mission Kakatiya, Mission Bhagiratha and other schemes.

Poster released

Later, along with AICC secretary C. Kuntia, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir; Greater Hyderabad Congress president D. Nagender and TPCC secretary Azmatullah Hussaini, he released the route map of Mr. Rahul Gandhi's visit on June 1.

Mr. Rahul Gandhi would arrive at the Begumpet Airport at 3.30 p.m. and en route would pay floral tribute at former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s statue in Somajiguda. He would then proceed to Sangareddy accompanied by a massive bike rally which would pass through Kukatpally, BHEL crossroads and Patenchru.
