US Consulate does no check on varsities

May 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Selecting and verifying a US university information is the applicant’s responsibility as the Consulate office does not do it while issuing a visa, said Manav Jain, Non-Immigration Visa Section Chief at the US Consulate-General office here.

Interacting with reporters here after ‘Student Visa Day’ held at the US Consulate General office on Thursday, Mr. Jain’s statement came when asked about US universities being shut down by authorities over the last few years for various offences, leaving Indian students in the lurch. “International students can also get information from the United States India Education Foundation (USIEF),” he said.
