March 24, 2010 12:16 pm | Updated 12:16 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Members of the Uppal Industries Association in protest against inconsistent power supply, launched a relay hunger strike on Tuesday at Nacharam Crossroads.

The State government is giving step-motherly treatment to SSI sector in regard to power supply. In spite of supplying power for only four days in a week, additional power cuts are imposed from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on other days, said M.M. Reddy, association president in a statement here on Tuesday.

Two representatives of all the industrial estates in Uppal, Nacharam, Mallapur, Cherlapally, Kushaiguda and Moula Ali would participate in the strike. On Thursday, all the entrepreneurs along with their employees would take out a protest rally from Baghlingampally to Indira Park.

Later, a memorandum would be presented to Governor E.S.L Narasimhan and Chief Minister K. Rosaiah, he added.
