‘UP should appeal against HC verdict in Hashimpura massacre’

March 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated November 17, 2021 02:12 am IST - Hyderabad:

Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to appeal against the Delhi High Court judgement acquitting all the accused in the Hashimpura massacre.

The name of the IG, who was then responsible for the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), should be included in the accused list and arrested immediately, he said.

Mr. Owaisi told presspersons here on Saturday that the Congress was in power both in the State and the Centre at that time and then the BJP and BSP came to power. It was the moral and constitutional responsibility of all these political parties to ensure that justice was done to the victims of Hashimpura, Mr. Owaisi said.

He termed the verdict a miscarriage of justice.
