UoH environs come alive with half marathon

The scenic environs of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) were further enlivened with vibrant youngsters attired in their resplendent best, racing through the nook and corner of the campus as a part of the half marathon on Sunday morning.

With the invitation extended to corporates and schools, the marathon saw over 700 enthusiastic runners who embraced the opportunity to enter the campus. The marathon was supported by Hyderabad Runners, a not-for-profit society, and Airtel.

The half marathon was flagged off by Ramakrishna Ramaswamy, Vice-Chancellor, UoH, and Murli Nannapaneni, chairman, Hyderabad Runners. Adding to the enthusiasm of the fitness freaks was the ‘10 K’ run that followed and a ‘3 K’ Fun Run amidst cheers from friends and families.

The marathon started at the open dais, and went through important landmarks like the Yoga Centre, Sports Complex, Primary School, Post Office, International Students’ Hostel, V-C’s residential lodge among others. The participants not only enjoyed the run, but also got a chance to admire the scenic beauty of the campus that is rarely opened to outsiders.

Run at People’s Plaza

In another run organised at People’s Plaza about 1,000 people highlighting the need to promote greenery. The run that was inaugurated by the Labour Minister, Danam Nagender started from People’s Plaza, proceeded to P.V. Ghat only to return to the starting point.
