Union Commerce Secretary holds meet on boosting exports

Union Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia held discussions of the officials of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States here on Tuesday to resolve issues relating to trade and commerce with a view to boost country’s exports.

She took stock of the issues relating to trade facilitation and infrastructure. Principal Secretary (Industries), Telangana, Arvind Kumar, Commissioner of Industries Manick Raj and senior officials from AP Veena Ish, Solmon Arokiaraj and Girija Shankar attended the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Arvind Kumar sought the Union Government’s cooperation in setting up two dry ports and an integrated multi-product Special Economic Zone in Telangana. The issue of setting up Hyderabad Trade Centre was also discussed during the meeting. The Union Commerce Secretary stated that the Container Corporation of India (CCI) was ready to set up an Inland Container Depot in Telangana and asked the State Government officials to take up with the matter with CCI for setting up a dry port in the State.
