A meeting of the Unified Metro Transport Authority (UMTA) held here on Tuesday decided on setting up a full-fledged Traffic and Transportation wing to address issues related to traffic in the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) areas.
The meeting presided over by the Chief Secretary S.V. Prasad was attended by the heads of different departments including HMDA, Road Transport Corporation and the City and Cyberabad Police. Traffic expert Prof. S.Raghavachari and representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) too were present.
Among others, the meeting took stock of the traffic-related matters and issues that figured included earmarking and providing parking sites for private bus operators in different locations around the city and also the MMTS second phase.
The Cyberabad police sought sites for setting up police stations and outposts along the upcoming Outer Ring Road (ORR).
Incorporating intelligent transport mechanism along the ORR too came up for discussion.
