UNICEF media awards launched

July 31, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:59 am IST - HYDERABAD:

For the first time, the UNICEF media awards for 2016 would be given to stories which appeared in the print media too, apart from those aired on television. The awards were launched in four thematic areas — including child and maternal health, child nutrition, child education, and child protection — at a media symposium here on Friday.

Awardees among TV channels in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh would be chosen after scrutinising children-related programmes during primetime hours, which is between 6.30 p.m. and 10.30 p.m., from August 1 to November 8. TV channels can also self-nominate children-related programmes telecast any time during the day between January 1 and November 8, though programmes telecast during primetime would be given higher weightage.

Print media organisations and Independent or freelance journalists can submit their children-related stories, features, and articles published between January 1 and November 8 as self-nomination. The last date for submission is November 9.
