The Exhibition Society asserted on Tuesday that no permission has been given to the Bathini Harinath Goud family to administer the annual ‘fish prasadam’ at the Nampally Exhibition Grounds.
‘Permission not sought’“For the last seven or eight years, preparations for the ‘fish prasadam’ programme begin by the second week of May. The Goud family would send us a request to allot the ground, and we would forward it to the government. But this time, the government has not responded to any of our letters,” said Ashwini Margam, a member of the Exhibition Society.
Mr. Margam further informed that the children’s carnival, which is held every year from May 1 to 31, had been delayed by about two weeks, since it had coincided with the elections. “As of now, there is not enough place to accommodate both the events, as the ground is not big enough for so many people,” he said.
The society member also added that the Exhibition Society has already informed the government that it cannot allot the ground this year as it was ‘already occupied’. The Bathini Goud family which has been administering the fish prasadam to asthma patients are upset over the unforeseen development.
Harinath Goud, one of the senior members of the Bathini family, said that he learned of the development only a few days ago and ever since he was still trying his best to get the Exhibition Grounds as the venue to conduct the programme on June 8 and 9.
Goud family meets KCR“We do not need the grounds for ourselves, but for the convenience of the public. I have met Telangana Chief Minister designate K. Chandrashekar Rao and urged him to allow us to organise the programme at Nampally itself,” he said.
