The United Kingdom could be a partner in the forthcoming Global Investors Summit proposed to be held here in November.
A high-level UK delegation comprising British High Commissioner Sir Richard Stagg, British Deputy High Commissioner, Southern India, Mike Nithavrianakis and others called on Chief Minister K. Rosaiah at Secretariat here on Thursday and said they would look into the proposal to partner the Global Investors Summit.
The delegation told the Chief Minister that they were looking at investing in the State in different sectors.
Offer of incentives
The industrialists from the UK evinced interest in investing in the manufacturing of Aircrafts and Aircraft components. Mr. Rosaiah told the delegation that the State offered maximum incentives to industrialists and investors under its industrial policy.
The city already made a mark at pharmaceutical capital of the State.
The State, with the best airports, would also be developing a coastal corridor of Visakhapatnam-Kakinada. While the overall economic growth in the State was good, IT, ITES sector growth had been the best in the recent years.
The British High Commissioner also called on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan in the morning.
Meanwhile, another delegation from Alcorn State University, Mississippi, USA, called on the Chief Minister on Thursday.
The delegation of professors Dovi Alipoe, Alton Johnson, McAfee Dalton, Samuel White and Ashwini Kumar hailed the rapid strides made by the State in the field of higher education. They had a special word of praise for Acharya N.G.Ranga Agricultural University.
The Alcorn University founded in 1871 for the higher education of African Americans specialised in Agriculture, research, extension and applied sciences.
