With progress of work on the Kandikal Gate Road over Bridge (RoB) picking up in the last three weeks, the facility is expected to be opened for traffic, at least for the two-wheelers, by the first week of December.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken up the construction of the RoB at an estimated cost of Rs.23 crore and after extension of time approval, was slated to be completed by January 31, 2015.

However, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar, who along with senior officials inspected the ongoing works on Monday, wanted the work to be speeded up further and completed early and opened at least for two-wheeler vehicles by December 2.

Only four slabs are still to be set up for the facility which runs for a length of 850 meter and the same would be completed within next two to three days, Mr.Somesh Kumar said.

The Commissioner has also set the deadline of January second week for completion of another facility taken up by the civic body to ease traffic problems at Toli Chowk in the form of a flyover. The project taken up at an estimated cost of more than Rs.50 crore, when completed, would have a length of 650 metres with 38 spans, and offer a reprieve from traffic congestions at Toli Chowk and reduce travel time between Mehdipatnam and Gachibowli.

Meanwhile, the Mayor, Mohammed Majid Hussain accompanied by the Commissioner inspected Zohrabee Dargah, Esaba Nagar nala, Imambada nala and directed the officials to speed up the land acquisition works for works taken up there.

R. Dhan Singh, Engineer-in-Chief, K. Suresh, Chief Engineer, Balasubrahmanyam Reddy, Zonal Commissioner (South), and Devender Reddy, Chief City Planner, were part of the inspection.
