The U.S. Embassy, New Delhi in association with U.S. Consulate General, Hyderabad will hold a two-day national conference, “American Studies in the 21st Century,” at Osmania University Center for International Programs (OUCIP) on Sunday and Monday.
The objective of the conference is to promote an interest in American studies and to showcase it as a multidisciplinary subject. Workshop sessions will focus on American Studies as a discipline and as a legitimate academic subject and how it is organized and supported around the world. Fifty academicians from throughout India will attend the two-day conference.
Minister-Counselor for Public Affairs, U.S. Embassy, New Delhi Michael Pelletier and Osmania University Vice Chancellor T. Tirupati Rao will inaugurate the conference.
Professor Donald Pease, Director of the Futures of American Studies Institute, Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, USA and Professor Martin Halliwell, Head of the School of English and Chair of American Studies, University of Leicester, U.K will deliver the keynote addresses at the inaugural session.
