Two youths held for harassing women

Two youngsters, for whom it was a routine to sit on the walls of a private women’s degree college in Ramanthapur and tease students by passing lewd comments or making indecent gestures, were put behind bars by the SHE teams of Rachakonda Commisionerate.

The accused were identified as Tilari Mohan Rao (20) and Chittivalasa Ramesh (21), both painters from Indira Nagar .

The Malkajgiri SHE teams, which conducted a decoy operation, said that from 8.30 a.m. everyday, the duo used to sit on the walls and tease the students.

A petty case was invoked against the duo, who were later produced before the Third Metropolitan Magistrate Court at L.B Nagar on Tuesday and were convicted for one-day judicial remand. The accused were released from prison and attended counselling on Thursday.

The SHE teams also apprehended 40 others in 36 eve-teasing, harassment and stalking cases. Police have booked 18 FIRs and 15 petty cases in the last three weeks based on the complaints received from the victims, in which seven minors were also apprehended.

In another case, a 25-year-old techie was allegedly harassed by her ex-colleague A. Tejesh Kumar (28) of Ghatkesar.

Kumar became friendly with the woman and started harassing her by sending messages and making phone calls. He also used to call and text her her fiancée and his parents, police said.

A case under Nirbhaya Act was booked against Kumar in Adibatla police station and he was nabbed and remanded, police said. Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M. Bhagwat said that SHE teams can be contacted over Whatsapp on 9490617111 or by dialling 100.
