The ‘drama of dacoity by pseudo policemen looting Rs. 35 lakh' three days ago in Punjagutta was scripted by a private company employee who set eyes on his office money, the police said on Friday.

Recovering Rs. 33 lakh of the looted sum, the Punjagutta police arrested the employee Ravi and five of his associates. Among his accomplices were two engineering students and a private security guard. Ravi had been working with Steel Exchange India Private Limited for past six years and earned confidence of the bosses performing all types of works from bringing food to delivering cash.

While sharing details of his job chart, Ravi told his friend Pedda Nagesh that sometimes his office assigned him the task of collecting and delivering huge sums of cash. The duo roped in their close friends, Subhash, private security guard, Chinna Nagesh, Qadeer and Abhilash, to execute the plan, the West zone Additional DCP, Ravinder Reddy, said. The last two accused were pursing engineering courses. On Tuesday around 9 p.m., Ravi collected Rs. 35 lakh from a builder in Prashasanangar of Banjara Hills and started for his office in Lal Bungalow in a three-wheeler along with two co-workers, Dinesh and Raghu. He informed his associates about the collection of money. His friend Subhashintercepted the three-wheeler claiming as policeman while the other members of the gang arrived in a car.

Claiming as Punjagutta police team, they snatched the bag containing cash and drove away asking them to come to the police station. Soon after the dacoity, the gang fled to Goa in a hired car and spent Rs. 2 lakh lavishly. The remaining sum was recovered.
