Two persons, including the son of a police officer, were arrested by the Malakpet police on Saturday for sexually harassing a woman software professional at Dilsukhnagar. One of their accomplices is at large.

The accused persons – Srikant (28), Venkatesh (30) and Arun (27), who were reportedly in an inebriated state, approached a 28-year-old software professional, who was waiting near an electronics store in Dilsukhnagar.

“After trying to start a conversation with the woman, one of them caught her hand and tried to drag her into their car. They also manhandled a passer-by who came to her rescue,” Malakpet Inspector A. Ganga Reddy said.

On receiving information, the Malakpet police rushed to the spot and took Srikanth and Venkatesh into custody.

They were arrested and produced before a court, which remanded them.

Case registered

The police registered a case under Criminal Law Amendment Act 2013 and arrested two of them. Efforts are being made to arrest Arun.

The police denied reports that the police official came to the station and created a scene over the arrest of his son.
