A 52-year-old-man Y. Yesu, a truck driver hailing from Krishna district, was killed after an unknown vehicle hit him at Kothwalguda on Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Shamshabad on Monday. Yesu was crossing the road when he was knocked down. Police shifted him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
In a separate case at Rajendranagar, K. Balaswamy (50), a security guard from Budvel died after an unknown vehicle hit him at the railway station on Sunday evening, the police said. The man was crossing the road when he was hit.
Drug racket bustedCyberabad police on Monday busted a drug racket and arrested six persons and seized 2 kg of Ephedrine drug worth more than Rs. 20 lakh from them. The arrested persons — Sridhar, Narayan Reddy, Naga Babu, Sagar, Mamand Rao and Ram Babu were manufacturing and supplying the drug to different persons, the police said. The arrests were jointly made by the Jeedimetla police and Special Operations Team of Cyberabad police.
Case under Nirbhaya ActThe Alwal police on Monday arrested two persons on charges of outraging the modesty of a woman. The arrested persons Prabhu Das, 25, and Hanumanthu, 24, who were working as labourers along with the victim’s husband Tirumal, went to latter’s house on Sunday and misbehaved with her. When the woman protested their behaviour, the accused reportedly attacked her with a razor blade.
Based on a complaint lodged by the woman, the police registered a case under Section 307 (Attempt to murder), 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and Nirbhaya Act and produced them before a court.
Youth dies while working outA 23-year-old man died while working out at a gymnasium at Alkapuri Colony in Nagole on Sunday. The youth G. Vasu, a businessman, was exercising on the treadmill when he collapsed and fell down.
The staff who noticed him shifted him to a hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
