Two killed in clash in Hyderabad

The incident took place when a special police party went to Thumkunta area in Shamirpet to apprehend a gang allegedly involved in circulation of fake currency.

Two persons including a police constable were killed and a sub-inspector sustained injuries in a clash between a group of alleged criminal and a police team at Shamirpet in Ranga Reddy late on Friday night. The condition of the sub-inspector, Venkat Reddy is stated to be critical.

The incident took place when a special police party went to Thumkunta area in Shamirpet to apprehend a gang allegedly involved in circulation of fake currency. While the police were trying to take them into custody the gang members fired at the police team and attacked them with sharp weapons resulting in injuries to constable Eshawar and sub inspector, Venkat Reddy, the police said. They were rushed to private hospital for treatment where Eshwar succumbed to his injuries.

In the retaliatory firing by the police, one of the gang members was killed while three others managed to escape. Senior police officials rushed additional teams to the spot and are making efforts to nab the gang members.
