Two held for ‘possessing’ ganja

Two persons who had 11 kg of ganja in their possession and were trying to dispose it off were arrested by the Commissioner’s Task Force team, East Zone, on Thursday. The duo was were picked up from in front of the auto rickshaw parking, at Secunderabad railway Station.

According to the police, the accused, T. Rama Rao and K. Subba Rao, who are natives of Vizag district, are close friends. They were both facing financial difficulties and hence decided to make easy money by procuring and selling/transporting ganja. For that, they met one Krishna Rao who is involved in buying ganja in Vishkhapatnam and selling the same in Hyderabad.

Rama Rao and Subba Rao also started cultivating ganja in their agricultural land secretly. About a week back they purchased the it from Krishna Rao for Rs.3000 per kilogram. Through him they met one Anand from Hyderabad who promised to buy the illegal substance for a higher price. For that purpose, the two friends boarded a train from Vizag to Hyderabad, and took 11 kg of ganja in two rexine bags with them.

On August 11, they got down at the Secunderabad railway station. While waiting for Anand near the auto rickshaw parking, the task force officials, acting on a tip-off from police constable K. Pavan Kumar, apprehended them. Two cell phones were also seized from their possession.

Red sanders seized

In another case, the Commissioner’s Task Force, East Zone team, apprehended a person for illegally possessing and trying to sell red sanders wood when he was trying to sell the same to customers. After his arrest, the team retrieved a staggering 26 pieces of red sanders wood weighing 240 kg. According to the police, the accused Yellesh hails from Mahbubnagar district and works as a flower decorator. Facing financial problems, he decided to earn easy money and hence took up selling red sanders wood illegally. A friend of his introduced a person named Rajesh who supplied the same to him. About 2 months ago, the Yellesh purchased the 26 pieces which Rajesh had stolen from a forest.

On August 11, Yellesh engaged an auto trolley at Shadnagar for transporting the stolen red sanders wood to Hyderabad for selling to customers at higher rates. On Friday, Rajesh reached the graveyard at Dhobighat, Saidabad and unloaded the red sanders wood from the trolley and kept them in the bushes nearby, after which he was arrested.

Yellesh has been booked under the A. P. Forest Act and was handed over to the Saidabad police for further action.
