Two Facebook users, who allegedly made nasty and obscene comments on women in their posts sometime ago, were arrested by the cyber crime police here on Tuesday.
T. Lalita Balasubrahmanyam and Krishna Mohan were produced before the magistrate and later released on a personal bail. The duo was charged under Section 66-A (sending messages through communication networks) of the IT Act and Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to outrage modesty of a woman) of the IPC. While Mr. Balasubrahmanyam works as a translator, Mr. Krishna is an employee in a private company. Some Facebook friends of the duo, who also made similar comments, are also under the scanner. Controversy broke out over the unprintable language, tone and tenor used in their FB posts and those who participated in the online conversation in Telugu, deactivated their accounts.
However, the cyber crime police are making efforts to retrieve their comments. “It requires a lot of technical work,” a police official said.
Progressive Organisation of Women State president, Sandhya, activists Vanaja, Roopavani and Suresh others met the police higher-ups and lodged a complaint, following which the cyber crime wing took up the investigation and arrested the duo.

There is a conspiracy behind this. There are people speaking worse
than this, but this people were only caught. Many people do not aware
what is happening behind the curtain. The people who were arrested are
Brahmins and They have been supporting their ideology in blogs and
facebook at the same time they themselves told that they respect the
ideology of others not against their personal beliefs.
The people from other side are not happy and waiting for a chance ,now
they got it.
Whatever they speak / chat,it has been happening in our society. They
also made it clear as'We are not pointing anybody and we are
discussing social trends'.
Unfortunately, the sad point is, Progressive Organisation of Women
State president Sandhya garu spoke with one of the bloggers that their
fight is against their ideology. Should not we have our own ideology ?
Are we going back to stone ages ?
And why shouldn't we make comments of whatever or whomever we like?
That's called freedom. India is obviously still in the dark ages. In the west people say
whatever they want about each other and still women and everyone else have a safer
life.
