Two persons accused of duping over 70 youngsters of nearly Rs. 80 lakh assuring them of jobs abroad were arrested by the police on Tuesday.
The prime accused, Kuchipudi Daniel Praveen Peters (47), is a Hyderabadi while his accomplice Savdekar Pramod (34) hails from Baroda. Peters had been operating a manpower consultancy ‘Capital H.R. Networks’ in Banjara Hills while the other acted as his agent from Baroda, Hyderabad Central Crime Station DCP L.K.V. Ranga Rao said.
An MBA and LLB degree-holder, Peters worked for a private company in Dubai for a while before returning to Hyderabad. He issued ads in newspapers and websites like Quikr.com stating that jobs were available in the hotel industry in Canada, Cuba, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia and Georgia.
Peters collected money ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 5 lakh from hotel management graduates, promising them jobs.
“He actually paid half the money collected to others in Delhi, Kolkata and Pune. Recently, he joined hands with Pramod to lure more jobless youths,” the DCP said.
The accused gave visas and air tickets to some of the candidates, but on finding the documents fake, they approached CCS officials who registered a cheating case and caught the duo.
