Two youngsters landed in trouble for not raising from their seats while national anthem was being played here on Saturday, as police registered a case against them.

The two persons went to Parameshwari mall at Kachiguda and purchased tickets to watch a newly released Telugu film, Chitrangadha, at screen no. 2. “Before the movie started, national anthem was played. All of us rose from our seats barring two persons,” said the person who had orally lodged a complaint with the Sultan Bazar police.

The complainant, who works as reporter for a Telugu TV news channel, requested not to be named while giving details of the incident. He said he asked the two men to rise from their seats but the latter refused to do so.

The journalist rang up Sultan Bazar police station Inspector P. Shiva Shankar Rao and complained that two persons were dishonouring the national anthem by not standing up while it was being played.

In next few minutes, a police party arrived at the mall and took the two youngsters to the police station.

Based on the preliminary information we gathered, a case under Section 3 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act-1971 was registered. The two youngsters were detained for interrogation.
