A CBI court has sentenced two persons involved in the multi-crore fake stamp papers scam to seven years imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs.4,000.
The second Additional Special Court for CBI cases has found Karimsaheb Yasimmulla alias Karimullah and Shamshuddin guilty and awarded punishments under various provisions of the IPC but all the sentences will run concurrently.
The court has awarded seven years imprisonment to the two accused under Sections 120B (conspiracy), 258 (sale of counterfeit government stamps) and 420 (cheating) of IPC and three years imprisonment under Section 419 (punishment for cheating by impersonation) of IPC. If the accused failed to pay the fine, they have to undergo additional six months imprisonment consecutively.
CBI Public Prosecutor K. Rammurthy said Karimullah was a resident of old city, while Shamshuddin was from Kerala. Mr. Rammurthy said the prime accused Abdul Karim Telgi already got conviction in the case, while two other accused -- Andalamma and her husband Krishnamurthy got acquittal four days ago.
