Two cars caught fire in separate incidents that took place in the city and suburbs on Sunday morning. However, no one was injured.

A Maruti WagonR, owned by a software engineer, Mrinal, was engulfed in flames on Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Narsingi. The techie was en route to the airport at Shamshabad. He immediately stopped the vehicle on the roadside, disembarked and alerted fire control room. A fire tender from Langer Houz station rushed to the spot and doused the flames.

In a similar incident, a Volkswagen car caught fire on the busy Punjagutta flyover. The car owner, Lalith, a businessman, was returning home from Secunderabad.

“We suspect electrical short-circuit could be the main cause for these two incidents,” said Langer Houz Fire Officer M. Baswa Raju.
