Two teenagers got electrocuted in Rajendranagar on Sunday morning. The victims were identified as Iqbal Ahmed Khan, 18, an Intermediate student and Md. Khalid, 17, a carpenter. Both were residents of Suleimannagar in Rajendranagar.

The police said the boys could have got electrocuted when they came in contact with live power cables near a power transformer.

“We are also investigating the angle of the teenagers trying to draw illegal power from the transformer for a function being held in the locality,” Rajendranagar Inspector Ch. Kulshalkar said.

Meanwhile, local residents staged a demonstration along with the bodies at the local APCPDCL office demanding compensation and action against the officials for not properly covering the transformer. The protest was called off after Charminar legislators Ahmed Pasha Quadri, spoke with the electricity department officials who promised to look into the issue.
