Police on Tuesday caught two persons for purchasing stolen gold bangles from the accused in the sensational Tanishq showroom heist in Punjagutta a few days ago.
The stolen bangles, weighing 72.9g, were recovered from Mohanlal Sirvi alias Mohanlal (35), proprietor of Krishna Jewellers and Ch. Chandrasekhar Goud (35), a server at a club in Begumpet, both residents of Yellammabanda in Kukatpally.
The recovery happened after police interrogated G. Anand and B. Kiran Kumar, the main accused in the showroom burglary. The duo told police that they had asked Chandrasekhar to sell a pair of bangles from the booty. The latter met jeweller Mohanlal and mortgaged bangles for Rs.45,000, of which he gave only Rs.30,000 to Kiran.
Police also seized gloves, a monkey cap, a hammer, a screwdriver, clothes and other material used for committing the crime.
Two held
In a separate case, two persons were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly stealing gold and silver ornaments from a businessman’s house at Journalists Colony in Jubilee Hills. The arrested have been identified as K. Venkata Ramana (25) of Visakhapatnam and D. Gangadhar (45) of Yousufguda. Stolen gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs.15 lakh were recovered from them.
