Two 14-year-old girl students from the A.P. Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (APSWREIS) will be taking up an expedition to scale Mount Everest from the arduous northern ridge in China.
It will be for the first time that young students will be making such an attempt from that side of the highest peak in the world. The government on Thursday also issued orders sanctioning an amount of Rs. 68.5 lakh towards the expedition cost including four ‘sherpas’.
The expedition ‘SWAEROS Go Everest’ is already on the way and if they succeed, it will be a mountaineering record, said R.S. Praveen Kumar, Secretary, APSWREIS.
Orders were also issued towards construction of three new buildings of the society at Pulivendula at a cost of Rs. 11.16 crore, Visakhapatnam-Rs. 10.20 crore and Peapully (Dhone) Rs. 4.7 crore.
